Why is it 7 cm?Pressure formula: P=F/S. When the backpack weighs 10 kilograms, the 7 cm wide shoulder strap can reduce the pressure to 71 kPa, which is just below the critical value of 80 kPa for subcutaneous capillaries.
We asked three editors to carry 5 kilograms of weight continuously and walk for 5 kilometers.
• 5 cm shoulder strap: Red marks appear at the 25th minute;
• 6 cm shoulder strap: Slightly sore starting from the 40th minute;
• 7 cm shoulder strap: No tightness throughout the journey.
If you can't change your bag for the time being, here are three first aid tips:
Adjust the Angle between the shoulder strap and the shoulder to no more than 20°, so that the weight falls on the collarbone rather than the trapezius muscle.
Keep the height of the backpack at the lower edge of the shoulder blades and the center of gravity close to the spine.
• Temporary thickening: Insert a dishwashing sponge into the inner side of the shoulder strap to immediately add 1 cm of cushioning.
When choosing a bag, remember the password: Long-distance = 7 cm+ honeycomb vent + S-shaped curve.
